City Fertility warmly welcomes Dr Tiarna Ernst to its expanding Brisbane clinic located in Newstead.
Passionate about women’s health, gender equality, education and leadership, Dr Ernst is a multi-talented professional who prides herself on her commitment to a progressive, evidence-based and compassionate approach to treating all her patients.
Dr Ernst was a premiership winning AFLW player for the Western Bulldogs before moving to the Gold Coast Suns, all while juggling her obstetrics and gynaecology training, but Dr Tiarna Ernst is a firm believer that being an athlete made her a better doctor and being a doctor made her a better athlete too.
Now retired from professional sport and fully qualified and working as a fertility specialist with City Fertility, Dr Ernst said discipline, perseverance, teamwork and good communication within the sporting arena, have easily transferred over into her medical career. This is reinforced by her dedication to providing her patients with the best possible chance of achieving their dreams of parenthood.
“It has given me the skills to be able to work successfully with any colleague, build strong relationships with my team members and patients, and be able to work effectively within any emergency/difficult situation,” Dr Ernst said.
Dr Ernst is now being mentored at City Fertility by one of Australia’s most well renowned and sought-after fertility specialists Dr Julie Lindstrom, who according to Tiarna is the most valuable gift she has received as she steps out into establishing her gynaecology and fertility private practice.
The areas Dr Ernst currently specialises in include IVF and fertility care, gynaecology, laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery and has a special interest in female athlete fertility and menstrual health.
In conjunction with her passion for medicine, Dr Ernst is actively speaking on the topics of gender equality and enthusiastically participates in numerous conferences and presentations about female empowerment. She is particularly passionate about addressing the topics of overcoming systemic barriers to gender inequality and navigating the challenges facing professional females within their workplace and sporting arena.
