A modern fertility centre offering cutting-edge reproduction technology has opened in Bundoora to help couples who are experiencing fertility issues.
National fertility service provider City Fertility Centre has expanded into the northern suburbs of Melbourne to offer the full range of fertility and IVF services for clients.
City Fertility Centre’s chief executive officer and scientific director Adnan Catakovic said the new purpose-built facility in the University Hill development consisted of consulting areas, procedure rooms and an IVF laboratory.
“We can now provide a complete fertility and IVF service from our Bundoora clinic, while any necessary surgical procedures will continue to be carried out at the nearby Northpark Private Hospital,” Mr Catakovic said.
Initially, five staff and four fertility specialists will be based at City Fertility Centre Bundoora, at 240 Uni Hill, and there is room for further expansion.
The four fertility specialists at the new clinic, Dr Alex Eskander, Dr David Wilkinson, Dr Anne Poliness and Dr Vadim Mirmilstein, have decades of experience in the field of obstetrics, gynaecology and fertility.
Dr Eskander said he was excited about the new full-service IVF facility.
“Being able to offer patients a completely local fertility service in a modern and comfortable setting will be of huge benefit to those experiencing fertility issues,” he said.
Dr Eskander said current figures showed that one in six couples experienced fertility issues, but not all of those patients required IVF.
“If a person is having difficulty falling pregnant, we encourage them to come and seek more information,” he said.
“Sometimes we just need to reassure them they are doing all the right things, sometimes we can offer pre-IVF treatments that may help them conceive, and about one-third of our patients will require IVF.
“No matter what the fertility concern may be, ultimately our goal is to help people conceive by providing a high-quality fertility treatment service in a caring, compassionate and supportive environment.”
