Greater Springfield couples now have access to state-of-the-art fertility services on their doorstep with the opening of City Fertility Centre Springfield in January.

It’s the latest expansion for City Fertility Centre (CFC), which is the largest independently owned fertility provider in Australia with seven clinics in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

CFC chief executive officer and scientific director Adnan Catakovic said the new clinic, in Commercial Drive, provided families with a comprehensive local fertility and IVF service.

Greater Springfield, now home to more than 560,000 people, is one of Australia’s fastest-growing urban areas and includes a Health City precinct, currently under construction.

“We are delighted to be offering the first fertility service in Springfield and look forward to growing with the area, particularly once Health City is completed,” Mr Catakovic said.

Initially, seven fertility specialists will consult at City Fertility Centre Springfield: Dr Neil Astill, Dr Rolf Weissenberger, Dr Peter Fung, Dr Stephen Elgey, Dr Andy Stamatiou, Dr Mahomed Khatree and Dr Graham Tronc. They have decades of experience in obstetrics, gynaecology and fertility.

Dr Astill said he was excited about the new IVF facility.

“Being able to offer patients a completely local fertility service in a modern and comfortable setting will be of great benefit to Springfield couples experiencing fertility issues,” he said.

Dr Astill said one in six couples experienced fertility issues, but not all these required IVF.

“If a couple are having difficulty achieving a pregnancy, we encourage them to come and seek more information,” he said. “Sometimes we just need to reassure them they are doing all the right things, sometimes we can offer pre-IVF treatments that may help them conceive, and only about one-third of our patients will require IVF.

“No matter what the fertility concern may be, ultimately our goal is to help people conceive by providing a high-quality fertility treatment service in a caring, compassionate and supportive environment.”

City Fertility Centre Springfield, in the Women’s Health Centre at 23 Commercial Drive, can cater for general female gynaecology and obstetrics matters in addition to offering its fertility and IVF services. Appointments can be made by calling 1300 973 973.
